Three simple steps

How to compress a PDF in your browser

Start right away with no account. Choose a file and compression method, then your browser creates the new PDF on this device.

  1. 1

    Choose a PDF

Select one PDF from your device. The source file never leaves this browser.

  2. 2

    Choose how to compress it

The browser analyzes the contents first. Document optimization preserves text and vectors while selectively reducing oversized photos; scan compression is enabled only for scan-only PDFs.

  3. 3

    Check and download

Review the output size, then download the new file. Your original is never overwritten.

Frequently asked questions

What to know before compressing a PDF

Does compressing a PDF reduce quality?

Document optimization never turns pages into images, but it may gently re-encode oversized photos. Scan compression re-encodes scan-only pages. Either method may slightly reduce image clarity.

Why did my PDF not get much smaller?

An already optimized PDF, or one dominated by fonts and document structures that cannot be safely removed, may gain little. The tool does not damage text or vectors just to report a smaller number.

Can I still search and copy text after compression?

Yes. PDFs with searchable text are limited to document optimization and are never rebuilt as full-page images.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. This browser reads the file and creates the output on your device. The tool may load application resources when first opened, but it does not upload your PDF.
